WESTPORT, CT — The Westport Library Book Sale will resume accepting book donations beginning July 16, organizers announced.
Over the past few months, the library had halted accepting donations due to the coronavirus pandemic, but starting on the 16th, book donations will be accepted every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, but only during any hours the Westport Library is open.
"Book donations will be 'contact-less' — donors are asked to bring their materials directly to the grey brick shed next to the Book Donation Center in the Library's Upper parking lot at 20 Jesup Road," officials said in a statement. "Donations will be quarantined in the shed for three days, before being handled by book sale volunteers."
The following materials will be accepted for donation:
- Used books
- Audio books
- CDs
- DVDs
- Vinyl records
- Vintage magazines
- Other ephemera
The Book Sale does not accept water-damaged or mildewed materials, VHS tapes, audio cassettes, or self-recorded CDs and DVDs. For more information, visit www.westportbooksales.org
This is from the library's announcement:
New book sale volunteers are always welcome. Volunteers are needed year-round to sort, research and price donated materials; provide merchandising and customer support at book sale events; and to supervise and train our employees with disabilities. For information regarding volunteer opportunities, please email: info@westportbooksales.org
The Westport Library Book Sale is operated by Westport Book Sale Ventures, a nonprofit enterprise with the dual social mission of supporting The Westport Library, while providing meaningful employment for adults with disabilities. For more information, please visit www.westportbooksales.org
