LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — It's the holiday season and many people are accustomed to giving and receiving baked goods this time of year.

During the pandemic, many are wondering if those yummy holiday cookies and pies could potentially contain coronavirus.

13 Action News medical expert Daliah Wachs, MD, FAAFP, had this to say on the topic:
"So baked goods should not carry the virus and currently, we don't believe food harbors the virus. However, there are other pathogens that can lurk in improperly cooked foods (raw egg) and the container can be contaminated as well (with COVID-19). So overall we are advising not to share baked goods among different households until we get more clarity from the FDA.

To-go food has been considered safe but we recommend washing one's hands, taking the food out of the container onto a plate, and washing their hands again."
