Mohamed Salah's contract is expiring in the summer 2023. The club and the player began talks over a new deal months ago, but, as CBS insider Fabrizio Romano has reported, talks broke down last December and Salah and his agent have no intention to accept current Liverpool's current offer.

Jurgen Klopp spoke on Friday about Salah's contract situation and said that the final decision is "up to the player." Salah's priority remains to stay at Liverpool but the player has no intention of accepting the current proposal on the table to extend the contract. The last meeting with his agent Ramy Abbas was in December and then talks have broken down, there's been no further progress in the last weeks.

Liverpool will need to make a new offer in the next few weeks to try to convince the player who reportedly remains happy to stay at the club if his conditions are met. During the current season, Salah played thirty-four matches with Liverpool, scoring twenty-seven goals in all competitions and providing ten assist. He's obviously a crucial player for Jurgen Klopp's side and Liverpool fans hope to hear more positive news in the coming weeks. However, as things stand today, his future at the club is definitely in doubt.
