It’s been seven months since it all changed. Spring came and went, and so did summer. Fall is here, and winter is coming.
At first, the coronavirus pandemic shut down life as we knew it in Tampa Bay. It hasn’t worked the other way around, though. While restrictions have eased and society, to a degree, has restarted, COVID-19 has not left us. It’s still dominating most every discussion, impacting every aspect of our lives.
We’re still chronicling its effects. And we still want your help.
In the spring, we launched The Scrapbook, a compendium of your words, photos, artwork and artifacts about life in the time of coronavirus. We collected songs and paintings, letters and memories, poems and last words, all to make sense of everything we’ve felt this year.
Isolation. Anxiety. Loss. Hope. Moments of brightness and community and the surreal. The changes we noticed. The safety we sought. The adaptations we all had to make.
We updated those collections over the summer, but the world looks a bit different now. Businesses and schools have reopened. We’ve started to see large gatherings. The Lightning won the Stanley Cup. An election is in full swing. It’s wild how far we’ve come, yet how much there still is to process.
What’s getting you through these days?
We want to know what you’re creating, what you’re sharing, what’s made you laugh and cry and feel a tiny bit normal. If you’ve created a pandemic scrapbook of your own — well, we’d love to see that, too.
Please email photos, videos, artwork and anything else you’d like to share to scrapbook@tampabay.com, and we might add it to our Scrapbook. It’s your history — Tampa Bay’s history — after all. Let’s work on telling it together.
