Existing short term rental operators can submit an application to be grandfathered into Chelan County’s new short term rental code, starting September 27. Operators have until December 31 to turn in an application that includes a variety of questions.
“We strongly encourage people to submit their applications online,” said Commissioner Bob Bugert. “It’s a fairly straight forward process, they made it an electronic submission.”
Applications can be submitted to this email: CD.STR.applications@co.chelan.wa.us. Applications for new short term rentals will not be accepted during this time. That application period will open December 1 and run through July 29, 2022.
The county estimates there are up to 1,500 known rental units in Chelan County. Most are single-family homes being used as short-term rentals.
