Public will have a chance to win a share in the Aiken Training Track at Auction

Aiken, S.C. – Have you ever wanted to own a part of Aiken Thoroughbred racing history. Attendees at an auction to benefit the Aiken Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame and Museum will have that opportunity on Saturday, October 23. The auction will be at the Constantine House on Richland Avenue West.

Janice McNair and her late husband Robert owned Stonerside Stable that once maintained a stable in Aiken. Mrs. McNair has generously donated her six shares in the Aiken Training Track to the Aiken Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame and Museum for the purpose of holding an auction.

The six shares will be auctioned off individually and packaged with unique prizes. One package will provide the winner with a share in the Aiken Training Track and a great golf package to featuring rounds of golf at the Aiken Golf Club, Cedar Creek and Palmetto Golf Clubs. We also have an entertainment package that pairs share with tickets to certain performances by the Aiken Community Theatre and the Aiken Performing Arts. A food lover’s package will have gift certificates to the Willcox Restaurant, It’s All Good Market and other Aiken restaurants. Each package will also include artwork, such as equine bronzes by local artist, Barbara Nelson and signed prints of Secretariat taken by the late Eclipse award-winning photographer, Tony Leonard.

The event is from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the auction at 7:00 p.m. Aiken County Councilman; Andrew Siders will serve as the auctioneer.

Tickets are $100 per person and space is limited. Ticket cost includes light hors d’oeuvres catered by The Willcox. Tickets are on sale now may be purchased at the H. Odell Weeks Center, Folly (downtown Aiken), Meybohm Real Estate (downtown Aiken), Aiken Training Track Office, the Aiken Visitors Center & Train Museum (406 Park Avenue SE).
