Bike-share nonprofit MoGo has named its director of marketing and community outreach, Adriel Thornton, as its new executive director.

He succeeds founder Lisa Nuszkowski, who left in January to become president of M-1 Rail, the nonprofit that oversees operation of the QLine in downtown Detroit.

Thornton has led marketing and community outreach efforts for MoGo since its launch in 2017.

Before that, he served as the outreach and operations manager at Allied Media Projects, and manager of corporate marketing for American Entertainment Technology and founded Fresh Media Group.

In related moves, MoGo named marketing assistant Jeremy Rosenberg to succeed Thornton as marketing and community outreach director and said it will add two new positions in the coming weeks with support from the Better Bike Share Partnership, a collaboration funded by The JPB Foundation in New York to build equitable and replicable bike share systems.

MoGo, an affiliate of the Downtown Detroit Partnership, said it will add outreach and engagement manager and program manager positions to focus on improving connections between bike share and bus service with the Detroit Department of Transportation, Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation and Wayne State University.

"Adriel brings a wealth of skill and talent to his new role at MoGo, and he is in a great position to build on the opportunities associated with leading a growing bike share system," DDP CEO Eric Larson said in a news release. "Transportation and mobility are key issues for Detroiters and MoGo will continue to play an important role in the city's future. MoGo has successfully expanded, and now it's time for the organization to evolve."

MoGo, a short-term bicycle renting system, provides rentals in greater downtown and northwest Detroit, Ferndale, Royal Oak, Oak Park, Berkley and Huntington Woods. It started with 43 stations and now has 75, offering 620 bikes. It's funded through revenue and with support from Henry Ford Health System and Health Alliance Plan.
