Apple is opening up a number of its Apple Stores in the UK to walk-in customers, by dropping a requirement to attend a session with a reservation.

Since the introduction of "Plan B" measures by the UK government in December to counter a rise in Omicron variant COVID-19 infections, Apple limited access to its stores only to customers with an appointment. Apple is now starting to open the stores back up to passing trade.

On Friday night, Apple updated its store listings for 17 Apple Stores in the UK to indicate they are able to take walk-in customers once again. While the roll-out is expected to include 38 stores, only 17 are currently indicating walk-in customers are welcome to visit, reports iMore.

The stores that no longer require appointments to visit are:

  • Basingstoke
  • Bath
  • Brent Cross
  • Bromley The Glades
  • Brighton
  • Bristol Cribbs Causeway
  • Kent Bluewater
  • Lakeside (Essex)
  • Liverpool
  • London Covent Garden
  • London Regent Street
  • Plymouth
  • Reading
  • Stratford
  • Southampton
  • White City

The remaining 21 stores will still require an appointment to attend, and will not accept walk-in customers for the moment. All of the stores are based in England, with all four stores in Scotland and the sole Wales outlet in the appointment-only group.

It is likely that Apple will expand the policy to cover the remaining stores in the coming weeks, pandemic depending.
