Once again, Montana classrooms are feeling the impact of the growing number of COVID-19 infections. Great Falls Public Schools was the largest school system in Montana this week to announce the plan to close its doors when it didn’t have enough staff to cover classes.

MTPR's Edward O'Brien spoke with a parent and a teacher from Great Falls about how the pandemic is challenging students, parents and teachers.

Two of Sharon Smith’s five sons attend Great Falls High School; one is a junior, the other a sophomore. Smith shares her family’s experience with remote learning this week and through the pandemic.

Great Falls High School Art Department Chair Cortni Harant’s teaching career spans nearly three decades. She reflects on this latest disruption in education.

Harant tells Montana Public Radio’s Edward O’Brien the pandemic has forced educators and students alike to be more flexible than ever before.
