Georgia-based rock band Blackberry Smoke have released their new song “Hey Delilah”, off their highly-anticipated album You Hear Georgia – out May 28. The band also shared a music video for the track.
“A good old scary Bible story with a New Orleans groove. Delilah has a cellphone now, though.” says lead singer Charlie Starr when describing the track.
Following their 2018 album release Find a Light, the new record You Hear Georgia pays homage to the group’s beloved home state. Produced by fellow Georgian, Dave Cobb, the album features special guests Jamey Johnson (“Lonesome For A Livin’”), Warren Haynes (“All Rise Again”) and The Black Bettys (background vocals). Benji Shanks (guitar) and Preston Holcomb (percussion) also make an appearance.
In addition, the band has recently released the title track, and a corresponding music video, filmed at Nashville’s RCA Studio A.
“Lyrically, the song… started with the idea of how people might have a preconceived opinion of you because of a thick Southern accent, then expanded into the reality of how some people just seem to have such a hard time getting along, thanks to political or religious views, or simply what part of the country you come from.” says Starr of the title track.
The album release date marks Blackberry Smoke’s 20th Anniversary as a band, and is available for pre-save here.
