The Ingham Community Health Centers will allow new patients to be vaccinated starting March 22. They do not need to be established patients to sign up, according to a release.
Forest Community Health Center, Birch Community Health Center and New Hope Community Health Center are all federally qualified health centers, which allows them to administer vaccines.
Currently, people older than 65, and people ages 50-64 with preexisting health conditions and disabilities are eligible for the vaccine. Starting March 22 all people age 50 and older will be eligible for the vaccine.
Appointments are still required to get vaccinated. The Forest Community Health Center is accepting appointments on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4:20 p.m. Birch Community Health Center is open for appointments on Mondays from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. New Hope Community Health Center is open for appointments on Fridays from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Patients are required to show photo identification and proof of insurance. Patients will not be charged for vaccinations, according to the release.
“We are delighted that our health centers can now offer the vaccine to the community at large," Ingham County Health Officer Linda Vail said in the release. "By making the vaccine more widely available we will move toward community immunity, and ultimately, the end of this pandemic."
