CUMBERLAND – The owners of the 1825 Lewis Tower House at 2211 Mendon Road have accepted an offer “well above the asking price” of $499,000, said their real estate agent Brendan Duckworth this week.
Duckworth said about 200 people came through the home for an open house last Saturday, March 13, with an estimated 75 percent of those simply wanting to get a look at the inside and not interested in buying it.
But of those roughly 50 people who were interested, five of them submitted offers, he said, and the owners accepted one of them.
Duckworth wasn’t disclosing the final sale price or the buyer this week, but said he was very pleased with how the whole process played out.
The Breeze reported last week on plans by Paula Keefe and Jeff Polucha to sell the home after restoring it following more than 30 years of it being vacant. Long a source of curiosity along Mendon Road, the home is recognizable for its unusual southern-style two-story front porch, and local preservationists had long advocated for saving it.
