The String Cheese Incident Share Message of Solidarity with Asian-American Community Following Georgia Shootings

“The String Cheese Incident and its team strongly condemn any act of hatred, discrimination, racism or violence in any manner whatsoever, including recent attacks on Asian-Americans and Pacific Islanders,” the Colorado-based band wrote on March 18, in the wake of a string of Georgia shootings that targeted Asian-run businesses.
Following the death of the eight victims – six of which were of Asian – scores of Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities have condemned it as a hate crime, falling in line with a post-COVID spike in anti-Asian sentiment across the country. SCI similarly spoke out against the violence, in solidarity with SCI co-founder Michael Kang, who is of South Korean descent, as well as any fans or crew who are a part of the of AAPI community.
“Our respect for all backgrounds, races, religions, abilities, sexual identities, and gender identities shall not waiver,” they added. “…We extend our deepest condolences to the victims of the Georgia attacks and their loved ones, as well as anyone who has ever been affected in such ways. #StopAsianHate”
