Lincoln Riley will leave Oklahoma after all.
Riley, who shot down intense rumors a day earlier he would become the next leader of LSU's program, accepted an offer Sunday to become the head coach at USC.
"Leaving OU was probably the most difficult decision of my life," Riley said in a statement released by Oklahoma. "OU is one of the best college football programs in the country, and it has been forever. ... This was a personal decision solely based on my willingness to go take on a new challenge, and I felt like it was the right opportunity for me and my family to do that."
USC had searched three months for a new coach after firing Clay Helton earlier this season. Helton went 46-24 over seven seasons. He has since been hired by Georgia Southern.

Riley, 38, has long been considered one of the brightest offensive minds in the sport. He led Oklahoma to the College Football Playoff three times and won four straight Big 12 championships after he became head coach in 2017. Riley had a 55-10 record.
Plenty of people around LSU believed this week Riley would become the next coach of the Tigers as speculation continued to surround the school's ongoing search, but he denied the possibility Saturday night after Oklahoma lost 37-33 to Oklahoma State.
“I'm not going to be the next head coach at LSU,” Riley said.
He wasn't lying.
