LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. — She can’t see you when you’re sleeping and she doesn’t know when you’re awake but that’s not stopping one Lehigh Acres woman from playing a game of secret Santa throughout Lehigh Acres.
Jennifer Valentia saw a woman who was leaving gifts around Cape Coral and leaving clues on social media for kids to find them. Jennifer decided she wanted to extend that holiday cheer to Lehigh Acres.
“I decided I’m going to wake up this morning and I’m going to try it,” said Valentia.
She spent her eight hours riding around Lehigh leaving gifts she purchased in popular locations around town. Multiple gifts were left in a shopping plaza on Homestead Road and Milwaukee Boulevard, some were left at Veterans Park in Lehigh, and various others were left in other shopping plazas.
“I got a couple of like little baby ones, four to six months. Maybe like five of them,” said Valentia. “I got a couple of gift cards. Fortnite gift cards, PlayStation gift cards.”
Those who claimed the prizes were encouraged to post it on social media so Jennifer could cross that item off her list. She said the gifts were all quickly nabbed up.
“Just to see them happy to tear off the paper when they’re opening up that gift. Watching them is the best Christmas gift any adult could get,” Valentia said.
With four weeks until Christmas Day and a trunk full of toys, she hopes others in the community join in the game because she said she’s far from done playing hers.
“Every weekend I’m going to try my best, even if it’s four or five of them,” said Valentia.
Jennifer said she’s had multiple people asking to help her in her Santa scavenger hunt. She said if you’d like to join in, buy some toys and start posting on social media.
